There will be safety symbols around the lab, make sure you know the meaning of them. They will warn you about dangerous things or accidents that can occur. If you or a fellow lab partner become injured or break something, make sure to notify the supervisor (Teacher) immediately. The teacher will know what to do about the situation so it will not get any worse. ALWAYS read the lab instructions before preforming the lab so you do not make any mistakes and hurt anyone or yourself.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Only electrical plugs go into electrical outlets, otherwise have the outlets covered so water and other things do not get into the outlet.
2. After using all equipment make sure to unplug it to prevent anything bad from happening.
3. Keep all things electrical away from any type of liquid so it does not shock/ burn you or anyone else.
4. When unplugging something do not yank the cord from 3 feet away, go up to the outlet, grab the area you had when you plugged it in and pull straight out, NOT FROM THE SIDES TOP OR BOTTOM OF THE OUTLET.
5. Place the cord out of a walkway so people will not trip over it.

heat safety
1. Make sure all loose hair and clothing are tied back when using fire, or other types of heat.
2. NEVER look down into a container when it is hot/heating up something might pop and it might land on your face and burn if you do.
3. If something is heating up (a heat plate) do not leave it alone and do something else, someone might think is it cold and pick it up and burn themselves.
When handling hot glass wear do not place it on a cold surface of any kind or into a cold liquid, this would cause the glass to crack and possibly break.
